Ransomware, Endpoint Security & Most Importantly Back-Up

3/3/2021

Ransomware, a type of malware in which your network and/or computer system is maliciously hacked and held hostage by cyber criminals intent on asking large sums of money, or else! Now more than ever, it is important for businesses and organizations to educate their staff on Ransomware and other forms of cyberattacks, how to mitigate the risks of such attacks and more importantly, and what to do when such attacks occur.

1. One of the topmost priorities is to have a solid and regular back-up system in place, including redundant backup data storage.

2. Educate your staff about the various forms of malware, implement policies and best practices in regards to network and/or computer use and access, emails, email attachments, internet browsing, etc. and train your staff accordingly.

3. Installation of an endpoint security system will help safeguard servers, desktops, laptops, notebooks, and mobile devices from being attacked by malicious hackers.

4. Regular updates and patching of software and applications will also help lower the vulnerabilities of the system from being exploited.

There are many other additional steps and tools that you can take to lower your risk of ransomware and other forms of cyberattacks. If anything, the most important thing that a business and organization can do is to have a regular scheduled back-up and redundancy. This ensures that your data can be restored no matter what happens.

When Was The Last Time Your Organization Had An IT Assessment?

2/18/2020

All organizations rely on technology whether its for creating a product or service, for communication, or for managing information, and increasing operational efficiency. Any break-down or hiccup in technology can impact your company’s overall productivity and can affect your bottom line.

We highly recommend that you do an IT assessment of all your computer related hardware and software infrastructure at least once a year. Part of having an IT Assessment is evaluating the cost, use, and performance standards of your organization’s current equipment and software. This helps prevent frequent, and sometimes costly technology issues that you will encounter later. Moreover, by conducting an IT assessment of your organization, you will be able to to better determine your IT budget for the year. And if you haven’t done so, it’s a good time to put IT standards and policies in place for your organization.
